Be positioned deliberately, not by default

Most brands are the residue of last year’s campaigns. Audience strategy is the decision to be known for something specific, by the people who can actually move the work.
Deliberate positioning starts with a narrower audience than marketing usually wants, a sharper claim than legal usually likes, and the discipline to repeat both until they become the way you are introduced when you are not in the room.
A position is not a tagline. It is the sentence other people use when they explain you.
That claim has to be true enough to survive a sceptical buyer, a journalist, and a staff member who has been there longer than the campaign. If it only works in a deck, it is not a position. It is a hope.
